The smell of chocolate filled our class room, I letted go of my teachers' hand and took a courageous step in front of very loud and crowded children, my classmates. Excitement was build up, everyone was laughing, talking, pushing against each other and waiting for something big to happen. With my back against the window, i sat calm and enjoyed the sun rays from the sky warming me up. A bell was ringing when I looked a to the right from the window, a very fluffy bunny came towards us. I was shocked when i saw the bunny had the size of a human.
With a knock on the door, the bunny entered our room with a big brown box of carton. All children gathered around whilest i was checking everything from a distance. Little squeaks came out of the box. When I came a bit closer to see who's voice this was I saw four little chicks sitting close together in the corner of the box. My classmates where picking them up with their little hands and talking very loud in their ears. Immediately I got a big lump in my throat and I searched for the momma chicken to come along. I couldn't find her and I missed my own mom more then ever that day and looked forward for her to pick me up. My heart broke when feeling these chicks emotions as my own and felt how much stress they had.
Back then I was three years old and couldn't really put a finger on my emotions but until this day I still remember that moment and it reminded me how animals want to communicate with us from a very young age.
A circus of distress
As humans, we only tend to see what is in front of our noses. This brings us to a very small vision of the world as it is and creates realities that we believe we "can handle". From the moment we try to see beyond these realities that are served for us, we are in a state of distress. As we flood ourselves with the cuteness of little chicks and the taste of eggs, we forget these belong together. A circus of distress comes to our mind when we realise these little chicks from the box, lost their mom to the food industry and after they're being cuddled in different classrooms for one day, they are send back to this same industry for humans to enjoy as an Easter brunch.
Doors of peace
When we go beyond this circus we created, we can connect the dots to a pure reality. The reality that animals try to share with us. The only thing we have to focus on is our heart. When we go beyond our small world of distress that was served in front of us, we'll find the answer to life. That answer lays within our heart, where animals gives us the key to our intuition, the source of what is and in silence we find peace.
What is the meaning and source of Easter? Fertility, life and joy! Go and celebrate it with liberating little chicks from their boxes and reunite them with their mom. Give them a home in nature they can grow old and stretch their legs and feathers together.
